The Remain camp argues that UK’s membership of the EU brought in the protection of workers’ rights, including paid maternity leave, guaranteed holiday leave, protection for women in the workplace.

They argue that the UK will loose legislation on equal pay and anti-discrimination if it votes to leave the EU.

They state remaining in the EU has benefited consumers, who save up to £350 per year due to lower prices.

They estimate that the financial benefit to each household for remaining in the EU is £3,000 – through a combination of lower prices, more trade, jobs and investment.

The Leave camp believes the UK outside of the EU would be able to create more jobs by striking more favourable trade agreements.

Both sides of the referendum debate employ often mutually exclusive arguments. Both camps have tried to deconstruct and discredit each other side’s arguments in this policy area.
